Value Payable Post is India Post’s original Cash on Delivery service. The postman collects the declared amount plus a 5% service charge at delivery. The amount is remitted back to the sender as a Money Order. Maximum declared value is ₹5,000 per article.
Electronic Money Orders are India Post’s digital fund transfer service. Sent online and delivered in cash by postman at the recipient’s address. Uses a 20-digit numeric reference number instead of the standard 13-character format.
