What Value Payable Post means

Value Payable Post combines postal delivery with collection of an amount from the recipient under the service booked by the sender. It is different from ordinary postage and should not be confused with an electronic money order. The booking receipt and value-payable documents identify the article and the amount connected with it.

How to follow a VPP article

1. Copy the postal article number from the sender’s receipt.
2. Enter the complete identifier in the tracking form.
3. Read booking, dispatch, receipt and delivery-attempt events in order.
4. Keep the payment and delivery records after completion.

The tracking timeline describes postal movement. It may not display every accounting or remittance step connected with the collected value.

What the recipient should verify

• Confirm that the sender and expected article are genuine.
• Review the payable amount communicated before delivery.
• Request an official receipt for any amount collected.
• Do not pay through an unofficial link sent in a suspicious message.

If the amount, sender or article appears incorrect, contact official India Post support before providing payment or personal information.

Delivery or remittance problem

For a failed attempt, check whether the status mentions absence, premises closed, insufficient address or return movement. The sender should retain the booking and value-payable documents; the recipient should retain the delivery/payment receipt. These records help India Post investigate a disputed collection, return or remittance.
