Domestic parcel guide
Express Parcel Tracking and Delivery Updates
Follow an Express Parcel article through booking, processing, transport and delivery. Use the latest scan to understand what happened and which office currently has responsibility for the parcel.
Start with the booking receipt
Use the full postal article number printed on the receipt or supplied by the sender. Copy every letter and digit exactly and remove spaces. If the system finds no record, compare similar-looking characters and allow time for the first booking event to appear.
How the parcel moves
The booking office creates the article record and accepts the parcel.
Mail facilities sort and group the parcel for its next route.
Dispatch and receipt scans record movement between facilities.
The destination office prepares an attempt and records the outcome.
When the status pauses
Express Parcel tracking is event-based and does not show continuous GPS movement. A gap can occur between dispatch and receipt, during weekends or holidays, or while the parcel is waiting for the next route. Check the last location and timestamp before deciding that it is delayed.
- Verify the article number against the original receipt.
- Check whether the destination PIN code and address were complete.
- Ask the recipient to monitor delivery notices.
- Keep the receipt and declared-value documents until completion.
Delivery attempt problems
An attempt can fail because the recipient is unavailable, the premises are closed, access is restricted or the address needs clarification. If tracking mentions redirection, insufficient address, unclaimed or return to sender, contact official India Post support promptly with the article number and last scan.
For a prolonged delay or disputed delivery, prepare the information listed in our complaint guide.
Express Parcel FAQs
Is the estimated date guaranteed?
No. Tracking shows recorded progress; delivery timing also depends on the route, destination and operational conditions.
Why does the parcel move through another city?
Postal networks use sorting hubs. A route that looks indirect can still be part of normal processing.
Can I change the delivery address here?
No. Address changes and redirection requests must be handled through official India Post channels.
