What is India Post Speed Post Tracking?
Speed Post tracking lets you monitor your Speed Post consignment in real time using your unique 13-digit Speed Post tracking number (also called a consignment number or article number). Speed Post is India Post’s flagship express domestic service, launched in August 1986, and delivers across all 19,000+ pin codes in India.
As of October 2025, Speed Post has introduced OTP-based secure delivery your parcel is handed over only after OTP confirmation and a revised tariff starting at ₹19 for local shipments up to 50g. The brand-new 24 Speed Post service (launched March 2026) guarantees next-day delivery between the 6 major metro cities with a full money-back guarantee.
India Post Tracking Number Format
Every India Post tracking number follows the same 13-character structure: 2 letters + 9 digits + IN. The first two letters are the service code (EE or EU for Speed Post, EM or EA for EMS International, RX or RA for Registered Post, CP for Express Parcel, CG for standard Parcel, LP for Logistics Post, PP for Passport Post). The 9 digits are a computer-generated unique serial number. The final two letters IN stand for India the origin country code.

India Post EMS International Tracking
India Post EMS tracking covers express international shipments. EMS numbers start with EM or EA (e.g. EM123456789IN). As of January 2026, India Post expanded its International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS) to 50 additional countries, with the ITPS weight limit to the USA increased to 5 kg. After departure from India, the same tracking number can be used on the destination postal service’s website (e.g. USPS for the USA, Royal Mail for the UK).
Dak Sewa App 2.0 New Official India Post App (2025)
The Postinfo app has been officially discontinued and replaced by Dak Sewa 2.0, launched by the Department of Posts in late 2025. The new app (available on Android and iOS) supports parcel tracking for Speed Post, Registered Post, Parcels, Business Parcels and Electronic Money Orders, along with complaint registration, postage calculation, insurance payments and post office search by pin code.
